Green Mobility – Mobile access to new location-based services

Green Mobility is developing the mobile lift-sharing agency of the future. It enables users to organize individual car-share schemes using mobile terminals, such as a cell phone/PDA with GPS. Green Mobility gives drivers and passengers an uncomplicated framework for finding suitable “spur-of-the-moment” offers and requests. This is possible given that the mobile terminal always knows the current data of the user, such as his/her present location, time, appointments, personal data or preferences. This information can be matched with the data of other users and combined to provide useful transport solutions even at short notice. Green Mobility takes factors such as flexible working times, traffic jams and delays into account, and can consider alternatives such as public transport, taxis etc.

Effective coordination of supply and demand
Green Mobility is developing a central mobility platform – the Mobility Mediation Layer (MML) - to coordinate the supply and demand. This platform uses semantic technologies to combine the data of users, as well as the services of third-party providers, to create useful value-added services. The platform provides mobile terminals with a standardized interface, thereby ensuring smooth communication between the terminals and the server-based components. The MML forwards requests and offers, and identifies suitable value-added services for new logistic problems. Furthermore, the MML guarantees a high standard of security when handling user data.

Using services via mobile terminals
The goal of Green Mobility is to extend the usability of services to mobile terminals, with a specific focus on extending the supply of services that are particularly suitable for mobile applications. This includes location-based services.

Based on TEXO technologies
Green Mobility creates a mobile interface to the Internet of services and is thus assigned to the TEXO application scenario.
